Antediluvian

A Journal of the Weird

I desire to travel directly to the submission form

Thank you for your interest in Antediluvian. We are a new journal dedicated to providing prompt responses to each and every submission. Expect to receive a response within 3 weeks and feel free to contact us if you do not!

Now let us delve into the weird and determine whether or not Antediluvian is the best showcase for your creative endeavors!

What we want:

Regale us with stories of a long-forgotten past. Leave us cowering, or in awe. Make us question the very nature of reality, or send us on a journey to a realm somewhere between dreaming and waking.

We want the stories, art, and poems you tucked away, assuming no venue would dare to showcase them.

In short, we want weird.

To speak more directly, we wish to provide a platform for the horrific and the macabre, the fanciful and the astonishing. Horror, dark fantasy, twisted sci-fi, and even works that reveal the monsters among our ordinary lives may find a home here.

Whether it be short fiction, flash fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, works of art (or any other form your creative wanderings might take) give us something unexpected, exciting, or just plain unsettling. To give you an idea, here are some of our favorite authors:

  • H.P. Lovecraft
  • Stephen King
  • Arthur Machen
  • C.L. Moore
  • Mary Shelley
  • Edgar Allan Poe
  • Clark Ashton Smith
  • William Hope Hodgson
  • Anne Rice
  • Gene Wolfe
  • Fritz Leiber
  • Robert Howard
  • Michael Moorcock

Submission Requirements:

Our Lord and Master, or rather Editor-in-Chief Dr. G.T. Gould requests that all manuscripts adhere to the following guidelines. Those that do not may well be fed to the hounds.

All work must be:

  • Sole intellectual property of the submitter(s), or authorized for re-printing
  • Double spaced, with 1” margins, 11 or 12 point font
  • .doc, .docx, .rtf, or .pdf format

Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please inform us of this fact in the body of your email/cover letter.

How to Submit

If you believe that Antediluvian may indeed be the fount of arcana for which you have been desperately seeking, we attempt to make the submission process as painless as possible. Submissions may be sent in one of two ways:

Email Submissions

Please send us your work(s) as an attachment and include a brief cover letter/introduction in the body of the email. Please also title your email with the name of the submission (if applicable) and the word “SUBMISSION”. A brief author bio may also be included; if your piece is accepted, we will ask for one. Note that we do not currently limit the number of pieces you may submit for our consideration, but would appreciate your discretion (i.e. don’t send us an insurmountable stack of material that we could not possibly sift through in a timely manner).

Our email: antediluvianmag@gmail.com

If your work is accepted, we will ask that you sign a contract granting Antediluvian publication rights but no further ownership of the piece. We will also ask for a short author’s bio to include in the issue, which you are free to also include in an initial email submission. We are able to offer compensation for accepted submissions; the amount of which is currently under deepest discussion.

Finally, if your work is rejected we would like to first congratulate you on your bravery on submitting in the first place. Even if this assembly of the strange is not the right place for your work, you might well be able to place it elsewhere. Dr. Gould would like to add that “perseverance is key in writing, just as it is in outrunning a flesh-eating behemoth hell-bent on devouring your small intestine.” (Apparently he has experience in that).
